The Vision Behind Balanced Diet Cottage
Our journey began in 2018 with a simple yet profound dream: to create a space where the rich culinary heritage of Africa could be shared, celebrated, and enjoyed by everyone. Founded by Chef Funmilayo Owa, Balanced Diet Cottage was born from a deep love for authentic African cuisine and a desire to bring people together through food.
Growing up across Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon, Chef Funmilayo learned the art of cooking from her grandmother, who taught her that "food is the language that speaks to the soul." Each recipe tells a story, carries tradition, and creates connections that transcend borders.
Today, we're proud to serve as a cultural ambassador, introducing our community to the diverse flavors of West and Central Africa while maintaining the authenticity and tradition that makes each dish special.
